Here are my picks for week 12 of the 2016 NFL season, save for Green Bay at Philadelphia, of which I will have a complete preview.
Minnesota at Detroit
Believe it or not, Ford Field is a pretty difficult place to play when the fans show up. With their team very much in the NFC playoff hunt, the Lions faithful will make things difficult on Minnesota. Don’t be surprised if the Vikings make it hard on themselves, too.
Washington at Dallas
The Cowboys train keeps a-rollin’. Washington’s defense will have no answer for Zeke Elliott and the road grader that is the Dallas offensive line.
Pittsburgh at Indianapolis
No Andrew Luck, no chance for the Colts. Le’Veon Bell runs wild in Indy.
Tennessee at Chicago
Alshon Jeffery and Zach Miller are both out, and Jay Cutler most likely will not play. Tennessee needn’t score a ton to win this game.
Jacksonville at Buffalo
Currently, the Bills are the definition of “control your destiny.” Jacksonville is the definition of “hot garbage.” Rex and Co. get the win.
Arizona at Atlanta
I just don’t like the prospects of Arizona holding down a legitimate offense. David Johnson can’t do everything himself.
New York Giants at Cleveland
Last season, I said the Browns had the potential to go 0-16. Well, I was only a year off.
Los Angeles at New Orleans
If Drew Brees happens to be your fantasy quarterback, you’re in luck. A Jared Goff-led offense cannot possibly score enough points to keep this one within reach.
San Francisco at Miami
I keep saying the Dolphins won’t trick me into picking them as a playoff team anymore. But damn it, they’ve won five straight and are squarely in the AFC playoff hunt. They’ll make it six in a row this week.
San Diego at Houston
I had a vision of Melvin Gordon almost singlehandedly winning this game for the Chargers. They topple the Texans on the road.
Seattle at Tampa Bay
The Seahawks’ D is just too much for Jameis Winston. Also, Russell Wilson is up to his old tricks, getting better and better as the season goes on.
Carolina at Oakland
In the week 12 edition of “If you told me a year ago I’d be making this pick…” The Raiders are legit, folks.
New England at New York Jets
Anyone else think Ryan Fitzpatrick will eventually set the NFL record for interceptions thrown in a single game? Brady and Belichick roll.
Kansas City at Denver
Mile High, er…Invesco, er…Sports Authority Field makes the difference here. This one’s decided by a field goal.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
